MagiKB Lite is a great tool to improve the typing experience on Windows Mobile devices with hardware keyboards. Its most powerful functions are:

  1. typing Capital letters without using the Shift button,
  2. inserting symbols without the Option button, and
  3. selecting text with the navigation D-pad.

Here's all you need to make it work on the Palm Treo Pro!

It was originally designed for the Palm Treo 750v, but the author does not make much efforts to support other devices. It is not so difficult to make it work on your device: you need to create a keymap file that contains the keys of your device and what it should type.

Here is the process to make MagiKB Lite work on the Palm Treo Pro:

  1. Download and install HookManager: HookMgr cab file (Your Treo Pro will need a soft-reset after installation)
  2. Download and install MagiKB Lite: MagiKB 1.1 cab file or MagiKB 1.1 PC installer
  3. Download the MagiKB Lite TreoPro layout file: TreoPro.lay (1.64 kb) and save it to the My Documents folder on your Treo Pro
  4. Start MagiKB Lite and look in Menu|Keymap Files where you can now load the TreoPro Keymap file.
