Apparently Navigon treats potential new customers better than existing ones, as you can't download this latest version through Navigon Fresh yet (it is stuck at version 7.3.2).

Nebo has released a handy little tool to adjust the desktop wallpaper on your Windows Mobile device after you've enabled or disabled the RealVGA 96dpi (320x320) hack. You can of course fix this manually in the registry, but a little tool is so much handier. It's called Nebo DPI Setter and you can find it here, it's a free download.

Navigon has released an update to the highly acclaimed MobileNavigator 7 satnav GPS program for PDA devices. As a follow-up to my original post on how to fix or patch this great application so that it works on 320x320 Windows Mobile devices, here are the updated configuration files that work on MN7 version 7.3.2 (build 323).

Installation instructions for Navigon MN7:

Unpack the zipfile and replace Navigon\BinaryConfig.xml, Navigon\CacheConfig.xml and Navigon\Settings\ApplicationSettings.xml on your device or storage card.

Please backup the current folder of your Navigon 7 installation (\NAVIGON) before copying/replacing these files. I'm not responsible for any damage or problems you may encounter. If it doesn't work for you, restore the original files and all is back to normal.

Note that you can now download a free trial of Navigon MobileNavigator 7 here, including Europe maps. Don't forget to apply the patch to make it working!

In the conclusion of my review of Winterface 1.2 I mentioned that you can't customize the appearance of Winterface the way you can with Spb Mobile Shell and other similar programs. Until now, you could only rearrange the icon buttons and create new pages, but the predefined buttons always stayed black with gray.

Here's a small update to the battery drainage I experienced on the Treo Pro with earlier versions of Winterface.

Under certain conditions, I've noticed the same high power consumption with the latest version (1.2) too. After a bit of trial-and-error I've found that the Bluetooth Status button is the cause of this.

I'm sure it will be fully fixed in an upcoming release or patch, but for now removing the Bluetooth Status button from the Winterface screen solves the problem.
